The Spectacular Elangeni Hotel overlooking the Indian Ocean on the Durban Beachfront is host to this year’s DENTASA Summit & AGM on Friday 1st and Saturday the 2nd of June 2012.

The whole of Friday will be set aside for lectures, followed by the traditional Friday Fuddle with the traders the evening. Thereafter a sumptuous spitbraai dinner in the USHAKA Marine World aquarium will end off the day in style.

Saturday will commence with lectures and the Summit & AGM finishing around lunchtime, and finally a fantastic outdoor pool deck function with sumptuous food and views over the Indian Ocean.

This is a friendly reminder that the 2012 AGM will take place on the 1 and 2 June 2012 to be held in Durban KZN.

We urge all Technicians to be part of the only AGM for Technicians by Technicians. This is the only opportunity that DENTASA has to host everybody and to inform the profession  of the many changes taking place in Dental Technology and the Health-Profession  as a whole.

It is very disappointing that once again, the Cape Dental Show is taking place the week prior to the AGM. We as a profession must  never loose sight of the very important fact that the monies received at such an AGM are ploughed back into the Profession, while the CDS is strictly for corporate gain.

It needs to be mentioned that it poses no problem that the Comrades Marathon is held on Sunday 3rd of June, as two hundred rooms have been pre booked at the Elangeni Hotel, the venue of the AGM. Return flights to and from Durban should also not pose a problem as the KZN branch, our hosts, are negotiating with the various airlines for block bookings and cheaper air fares. Those of you that are fit and able enough to take part in the Comrades, will be able to kill two birds with one stone and even deduct your costs from the receiver as you will be attending a summit.

I would also like to remind you that a total of twelve possible CPD points are on offer and promise you that the registration will be greatly improved. We are aware that in today’s economic climate it does make the attendance of such an event difficult, but with planning and seven months to go, it should be in everybody’s reach and interested to make every effort possible.

These are interesting times: a combination of technical innovation, new legislation, and crummy economy.

As a dental technician, you can’t escape any of the three.

But you can learn how to keep up with the innovation, take advantage of the growth, and survive the downturn.

That’s where we come in.

We take our mantra — provide practical, no-fluff, how-to — very seriously.

If you’ve joined us before, you know that.

If you haven’t, please check us out.
